The magic of Sweet Orange and Frankincense

Our favorite essential oil combination – Sweet Orange and Frankincense

This oil combination is our best seller because not only does it smell amazing, it also works wonders on the skin.

On one hand, have the Orange Essential Oil, which is commonly used in aromatherapy. On the other hand, we have the generations old Frankincense Essential Oil, obtained from the resin of the Boswellia sacra tree.

A Peek into the Past - History of the Orange Essential Oil

Extracted from the fruits of the Citrus sinensis, orange trees hold the distinction of being the oldest commonly grown tree fruit known to mankind. Their reference is found extensively in folklore, and Christopher Columbus sailed to the Americas with orange seeds and later introduced it to the region.

Word about this lovely fruit quickly spread and it travelled as far as China, West Africa, Europe and Asia. Since then the fruit has been adored by millions for its sweet and luscious taste. However, not many people know about its skincare and hair properties.

Orange Essential Oil – Remedial Properties

The essential oil is extracted from the peels of oranges and its main constituents are alpha-pinene, citronellol, geraniol, sabinene, myrcene, limonene, linalool, and citral B. The key health benefits of the oil include:

1. Alleviates Anxiety

Anxiety is sadly highly prevalent in the world today. There are many ways to help reduce this naturally, from meditation and exercise to aromatherapy oils. Orange essential oil and its pleasant and serene scent has a calming and tranquilizing effect.

It helps to lower pulse rate and uplifts the mood and kill negative feelings. The scent is also efficacious in treating sleep deprivation. Use of essential oils for medical reasons should only be done under a medical herbalist or doctor.

  1. For A Glowing Skin

Orange oil has been shown to be a great antibacterial, antiviral and antimicrobial ingredient. This is great for the skin – helping reduce and prevent acne.

  1. Reduces inflammation

Of all organic remedies I have tested, you would be surprised to know that the orange essential oil is one of the fastest and most effective remedy to treat inflammation. When it comes to skin this helps reduce irritation, inflammation from acne and redness.

The Past and Present of Frankincense Oil

Frankincense oil is renowned for its fragrance and used globally for its mesmerizing incense. The aroma is especially adored by people living in the Gulf countries. Before finding home in the Arabian Peninsula, this medieval plant was used as incense in religious settings and rituals, for it produces a pleasant aroma and a white smoke. It is obtained as a milky white sap produced by the Frankincense tree.

How Frankincense Oil Helps in Our Daily Lives?

The chief constituents of this oil include Limonene, Pinene, Borneol, Farnesol, Phellandrene, and Myrcene. For those of you who do not know, these ingredients carry excellent anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and sedative qualities.

The frankincense oil is often found in high end anti-aging skincare products for good reason. It’s skincare properties have been known for centuries.

  1. A Skin Care Marvel

I simply cannot stress enough how much I love this oil and the amazing effects it can have on your skin.

It enhances your complexion, cleansing and moisturising your skin, working as an anti-aging agent. Again, the secret lies in a special ingredient called ‘Farnesol’, which slows down your skin’s aging process.

  1. Improves Gut Function

The last thing you need in your life is an upset stomach. But thankfully, frankincense essential oil will save the day. As I mentioned earlier, the oil is charged with anti-inflammatory ingredients, which enables it to successfully ward off the symptoms of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Research has brought results demonstrating the efficacy of this essential oil in treating gut function compared to a suitable pharmaceutical drug. Please note that any use for this kind of thing needs to be done by a qualified medical herbalist or doctor.
